Full-time position available with the Housing & Community Services Department, CDBG Administration Division located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *1 day a week of telework available after completion of 6-month probationary period

Responsibilities

  • Conducts specialized work assisting the Director in the crafting of contract language, scope, and coordinating with city procurement processes.
  • Involves responsibility for a wide variety of contract, procurement and administrative work.
  • Writes, reviews, and edits contracts, contract amendments and ordinance creation, while understanding city procurement process and contract adoption needs.
  • Immediate requests from elected officials for contract creation commonly occur and the ability to respond quickly and effectively is important.
  • Tasks are performed in compliance with policies and procedures with regular reporting.
  • Duties require frequent contact with General Services, Procurement Service Division, Finance, Law and the Housing department staff.

Qualifications


REQURIES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of progressively responsible, professional experience in business or public sector administration, with at least 2 years at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, with at least 3 years at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant. Preference given to those who have previous experience with contract and ordinance creation.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
