Patient Medical/Coder-Biller reports directly to the Chair of the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The primary function is Billing and Insurance Management which consists of billing medical and dental insurance companies for all oral surgery and maxillofacial surgery procedures; and must understand CDT and ICD-10 CM coding. Verify eligibility, benefits and inform patient if they have a share of cost or co-pay responsibility prior to procedure. Follow up on outstanding claims, schedule appointments, register patients and create and update patient records. Another area of responsibility is Front Office duties, confirm patient's appointments, and go over instructions with patient. Greet patients, provide information and answer front desk related questions.
