Our team of industry experts work with health plans to make the most of their healthcare dollars. We are currently seeking a Contracting Specialist to join our fun, fast-paced environment.

Role Summary

This role will focus on facilitating negotiations with the goal of finding the most agreeable contract for our clients and the provider. The Contracting Specialist role is sales oriented, relationship driven, fast paced, and engaging with growth opportunities. This role requires the utilization of data, creativity, and strong communication to drive the negotiations as the negotiation leader. The ideal candidate has experience in sales & negotiations and has strong presentation skills. This is a remote position.

Essential Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Manger of Provider Relations to implement contracting for the 6 Degrees Health book of business
  • Work through escalated bundled balance bill cases
  • Be an escalation point for balance bill cases
  • Research and analyze provider specific data
  • Negotiate with healthcare systems, hospitals, physician organizations and individual physicians on:
    • Single case agreements for specific patients
    • Settlement negotiations for services that have already occurred
  • Coordinate contracting needs with all departments
  • Document contracting progress
  • Manage many negotiations at once
  • Exercises independent discretion to negotiate on specific Single Case Agreements, Network agreements and settlement negotiations

Minimum Role Requirements

Required Skills

  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage the details of multiple negotiations at once
  • Willingness to actively participate in all aspects of the contract administrative process – hands on approach
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills with an ability to operate in ambiguous situations
  • Results driven, persistent, able to self-direct and work independently showing initiative, while seeking guidance when appropriate
  • Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail and be flexible in a fast paced and growing organization
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills a must; Apple product proficiency preferred o Ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency standards consistently

Experience

  • 2+ years of customer service required, preferably business-to-business experience
  • Sales and contract negotiation experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry
  • Project or process management experience preferred o Experience with business financial data, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Healthcare background helpful, but not required

Essential Role Functions

  • Must have the ability to read and understand various process flows and procedures
  • Strong internal and external communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be willing and able to work a 5-day schedule and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled shift to cover vacancies, if necessary
  • Must be able to sit or stand for two hours at a time
  • Must be able to operate computers and phones to support position requirements
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills are a must

The base salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $65,000, plus benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and that individual compensation will vary based on factors such as overall qualifications, skillsets, competencies, and work location.
