The section Control Systems provides and maintains core software tools, APIs and building blocks to build reliable and robust control systems for the different large research facilities at PSI. The control system is based on the open platform toolkit EPICS to meet the challenges in data acquisition and device control in modern accelerator facilities. Your tasks

  • Integration of different accelerator subsystem hardware and software components into the EPICS control system including their ongoing maintenance
  • Take part in development of customised control system applications used by accelerator expert groups and providing 1st level control system support
  • Planning and coordination of control system integration tasks with different stakeholders and aligning their expectations
  • Driving the strategy of operational aspects of the facility control system in close communication with external stakeholders as well as internally with your peers in the controls section

Your profile

  • Degree in the field of computer science, physics or other natural sciences preferably combined with experience in control systems
  • You possess sound technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and have initial skills in software development with a strong interest in developing them further
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interested in constructive exchange with peers and stakeholders
  • You enjoy working in a dynamic environment, striving to think about the big picture and finding long-term sustainable solutions
