We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative, IT, AV, communications and event support to ensure the Institute maintains an excellent standard of customer service to all of its stakeholders.

The Opportunity:

You will be asked to provide information to prospective applicants about the Institute’s various Fellowship Schemes, to collate applications and documents to support effective selection meetings, and take responsibility for pre-arrival support for Fellows. You will provide everyday technical AV and IT support for staff and Fellows, such as setting up AV equipment for seminars and other events. You will oversee resources including stationery stocks, the Institute’s IT hardware and software, and the IASH library catalogue, and also report minor building maintenance and safety issues.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of qualifications and work experience. An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Good IT skills with a working knowledge of relevant systems, equipment, processes and procedures including Microsoft Office and standard AV and web editing software.
  • Competent written and oral communication skills, including good attention to detail and professional e-mail etiquette.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a customer-centred approach.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.
