The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for organizing student life activities, trips, and events, including check-in and orientation, that meet the strategic goals of the university, integrating the values of diversity and inclusion, accessibility, sustainability, wellness, and cultural engagement in the program offerings. This position reports to the Residence and Student Life Manager, and involves conceptualizing themes, researching options and vendors, assessing financial and logistical feasibility, proposing ideas, making recommendations, creating and sharing planning documents with constituents, organizing and facilitating logistics and attendance in order to ensure the success of student life events. In addition, the Student Life Coordinator works with leadership and colleagues to plan and implement effective events and site marketing and communication through digital media, a weekly newsletter, and any other relevant means. The position manages RSVPs and attendance policies and assesses needs, costs, and distribution of University promotional materials. Positive collaboration, interaction, and coordination with colleagues and external providers is essential to this position. The Coordinator conducts post-event evaluations and presents data to leadership with recommendations for future improvement. When needed, this position provides front-office administrative support and is on call for emergencies.

Principal Duties

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate student services programming, ensuring attention to University values, such as IDBEA, sustainability, wellness, and cultural engagement. Conceptualize themes and prepare and share plans including timelines, costs, staffing, space, and budget. Manage RSVPs and attendance, including policies. Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a portfolio of providers and tools for logistical needs, plan events, project costs, and facilitate programming. Research and assess the feasibility of proposals and new ideas.
  • Organize and coordinate check-in and orientation activities in collaboration with colleagues and external providers. Prepare and share actionable planning documents with relevant constituents.
  • Coordination of marketing and communication through digital media, a newsletter, and other relevant means in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Attend trips and events periodically to ensure high quality implementation. 5%
  • Participate in training new staff and student leaders in programming and related tasks. Supervise student leaders focusing on programming and/or digital media. 5%
  • Front-office administrative support and on call for student emergencies when necessary.

Qualifications:
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience
3-5 years in student affairs or a related field

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and in teams, digital marketing skills, DEI training or experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Preferred Education
Master’s degree

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Canva, video production and editing
