We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person, ideally with previous remote work field experience to undertake a Voluntary Remote Posting on Willis Island, located 450 km to the east of Cairns in the Coral Sea for approximately 6 months as part of a team of four. The successful applicant is expected to depart for Willis Island in October 2023.
To operate effectively as the Technical Officer Level 3 (TO3) Station Manager at Willis Island, you will undertake moderately complex operational and network support tasks such as coordination of resources for instrument maintenance and inspections of sophisticated technologies, system diagnostics and fault finding, administration and providing support to Willis Island staff to undertake the Observations Program and other teams in the Cairns Hub Area of Responsibility.
The Willis Island TO3 Station Manager is responsible for the program of meteorological observations at Willis Island, ensuring adherence to the approved observations program and practices, quality control of data collected, supervision of staff on station, the environmental management of Willis Island and providing support to teams working in remote environments.
Applicants will be assessed on technical experience and competencies, as well as personal resilience and adaptability in this unique living and working arrangement. This is an opportunity for the successful applicant to gain experience working in a remote location and enable personal development.
