Delivery Truck Driver

  • Delivery and picks of products from vendors
  • Loading, securing and unloading of truck
  • Route planning, load sequencing and time management
  • Perform circle check on vehicles prior to departure
  • Present a positive attitude to customers, strengthening vendor relationships
  • Notify of maintenance and repair requirements
  • Communicate with customers, and other team members to coordinate pick-up and delivery details, address any issues, and provide updates on the transportation process
  • Follow all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and efficient transportation
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other required documentation
  • Adhere to company policies regarding hours of service, rest periods, and breaks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Warehousing

  • Count, wrap and consolidate the load
  • Clarify load placement of products on the truck before departure
  • Load the truck in preparation for departure time.
  • Organize warehouse upon completion of deliveries.

Skills/Abilities required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required for effective communication that produces results.
  • Reading, comprehension, and interpretation of instructions.
  • Demonstrate an attention to detail and display's initiative. This may entail evaluating your work priorities with those priorities around you, assist where you are most needed.
  • Accountable for targets - Delivery of completed orders to meet customers' expectations.
  • Participate in development and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Clean work area upon completion of project to ideal state.
  • Physically capable of Trucking activities –, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling carts/hand jacks and climbing stairs.
  • Capable of heavy lifting repeatedly (35 lbs.)
  • Work in compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations, Highway Traffic Act, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems.

Monday – Saturday

  • End time determined by completion of deliveries
  • Workload and hours will increase during our shipping season. Thanksgiving, Valentine's day, Easter, Mothers Day and May 24th.
  • Weekly trip to Toronto – Early departure.
  • 20 - 45 hours per week – Negotiable (If part time flexible hours are preferred then the majority of the time will be assigned as driving responsibilities, if more hours are needed/requested then additional greenhouse duties will be assigned)

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid DZ or AZ License, three years of commercial driving experience.
  • Must be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract
  • Tow motor experience is an asset
  • Floral delivery experience is preferred.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 20-45 per week

Salary: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

  • Wainfleet, ON L0S 1V0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • delivery driving: 1 year (preferred)
