Risk Oversight Manager – Asset & Funds [Luxembourg]


 
Le Grand & Associates is currently working with a prominent player in the asset management sector, an entity in Luxembourg holding dual licenses as a UCITS Management Company and AIFM, overseen by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (“CSSF”). This firm specializes in managing UCITS and AIF focusing on Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Debt strategies in various forms.
For the role of Operational Risk and Risk Oversight Manager within the super management company, you will be joining a flexible and dynamic Risk Management team. Your core responsibilities will encompass evaluating, overseeing, and communicating pertinent risks associated with the organization as a whole and the funds under its governance. Additionally, you will be instrumental in fostering an enhanced risk-aware culture within the organization.
Role Overview:
  • Develop and refine the Operational Risk Management framework, aiding business functions in identifying, tracking, and mitigating operational and business risks, along with implementing suitable risk-mitigation measures.
  • Strengthen the selection and onboarding procedures for key service providers, including the coordination of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) establishment by delegates and service level agreements.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing Due Diligence on delegates, including onsite visits.
  • Organize and manage service reviews on crucial delegates.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for overarching service provider matters and escalations.
  • Manage, coordinate, and enhance the IT and Information Security Risk Management framework, collaborating closely with IT and business units to appraise information security risks.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual assessment cycle, specifically overseeing risk and control assessments in tandem with process and control owners, and documenting the outcomes.
  • Support and advise Management and business functions on Risk-related issues, offering consistent reports to both internal and external stakeholders such as the Management Committee, Board of Directors, as well as regulators.
  • Cultivate a robust risk culture, which encompasses organizing staff training and upholding awareness programs.

Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in operational risk management (including oversight), IT risk management, or audit expertise.
  • Proficiency in the investment funds industry, with exposure to both AIF and UCITS.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with proven experience in initiating, implementing, and enhancing necessary processes (familiarity with process modeling standards is an advantage).
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate new concepts from a risk standpoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in German and/or French is advantageous.
  • A team player with a resilient and dynamic approach, along with the capability to work autonomously.
  • Proficient in using MS Office suite.
