The Sales Project Manager is part of the sales operations team and is responsible for sales projects from contract signature to handover to Service. Project Management refers to the process of project planning (no demand planning), organizing, directing, communicating and controlling project work to achieve project objectives as defined in agreed contract between Marel and customers and Marel internal goals. The role involves close contact with Marel customers where the Project Manager is acting as the primary customer and internal contact point regarding the project execution. It’s expected that this position will demonstrate customer centric approaches. The Sales Project Manager has no direct reports.
Main Tasks
As well as being fully conversant with, and compliant to, the entire Marel sales order/project management process, he/she is required to fulfil the following general responsibilities:
- Execution of project as primary contact from kick-off meeting to
project closure (handover to service) on behalf of industry
management
- Create and maintain overall project plan with input from various Marel
functions
- Keep stakeholders updated on progress, status and deviations from
plan
- Analyze and act on risk
- Coordinate project team activities and distributes tasks to project team
members when necessary
- Monthly financial reporting of the projects including better/worse
based on forecasts
- Provide feedback for root cause analyses of the line levels deviating
from the pre-calculation significantly including feedback to the
organization for continuous improvement cycles
- Coordinate 3rd party deliveries with purchasing if applicable
- Schedule FAT- test and report if applicable
- Responsible for the installation budget, coordinate installation,
commissioning, SAT and training with service
- Manages and coordinates (with the Industry Sales Managers, if
applicable) the change request process on items and services outside
contract scope
- Subcontract services if applicable
- Coordinate handover of customer to Service
- Organize warranty / protocol parts needed before project handover to
service
- Finalize follow-up/after care/ snag list
- Monitor milestones in project plan
- Project evaluation with aim of continuous improvement with respective
sales team and field service manager
- Visit the customer for project meetings and checking progress on site

- Advice the customer regarding planning, process and technical aspects
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to work well with diverse teams
- Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills
- Strong Norwegian and English skills, both written and verbal
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Be able to learn other
applications as needed
Education, Knowledge, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- IPMA or similar certification for Project Management is an advantage
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in project
management preferably in the food industry
- Intermediate knowledge of the business processes of companies in the
food industry
- Process oriented and analytically inclined and pay attention to quality
and details
- Experience with and comfort working in a multi-cultural, multi-discipline
organization is an advantage
