NZ financial institutions face a significant uplift in climate reporting over the coming 18 months. As a climate leader, WNZL has already reported voluntarily and now seeks to provide best in class reporting to the future requirements.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Head of External Reporting within Finance, you will be a key member of the project team building out the new climate reporting in line with Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards (NZ CS) for Westpac entities in New Zealand. After the initial project phase, you will own and drive the production of the climate reporting under NZ CS annually. Your key responsibilities will include:

Initial project

  • Act as Product Owner within the project team including the following:
    • Influencing decisions and outcomes made as part of the project regarding ongoing production processes utilising previous experience of good/best practice.
    • Bringing the internal customer requirements to the forefront of design decisions
    • Ensuring the project outcome is fit for purpose (for your future role)
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders who will contribute to or be involved in the annual production process.

Ongoing

  • Own and drive the end-to-end annual production cycle for climate reporting under NZ SC for Westpac entities in New Zealand.
  • Prepare papers for Board and Board Committees including relevant analysis.
  • Own the relationship with external assurance providers over climate reporting.
  • Keep current on local and global developments in climate reporting standards and guidance.
  • Critically challenge information provided from internal contributors to ensure it is fit for purpose, aligns to requirements of NZ SC and fairly represents the Westpac NZ entity.

  • Experience with processes to prepare publicly available financial statements / Disclosure Statements at a senior level.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, including influencing outcomes.
  • Ability to make decisions and deliver outcomes while working with ambiguity.
