Job Summary
The Quarry Operator III operates a 13-cubic yard, front-end loader or 5-yard power shovel in the quarry as required for the loading of limestone rock into quarry trucks as well as other materials used in the Portland Cement manufacturing process. They will operate and maintain plant drilling equipment and use explosives in a safe and efficient manner.

Compensation
Responsibilities
Loader operation:
- Fuel front end loader as required
- Inspect equipment for repairs and perform and complete minor repairs or adjustments as needed; report the need for major repairs
Blaster:
- Move drill to assigned place
- Inspect location for safety and set up and operate drilling equipment properly
- Inspect and report needed repairs to drilling equipment to supervisor and perform minor repairs
- Complete a daily report of drilling operation
- Direct and/or assist in the loading of holes and other phases of the work
Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Must be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Mechanically inclined so as to recognize the need for any adjustments or repairs
- Ability to coordinate the hands and feet for the operation of equipment
- Safety first mentality...safe work practices; look-out and concern for the safety of others
- Must be able to communicate effectively; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to get along well with others
- Physical ability to climb to all locations necessary to work
- Understanding of simple mathematics
- Must be a state-licensed blaster
- This is a "safety-sensitive" position...employee subject to random drug testing
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
