About the role

We are looking for a full-time, experienced and qualified Medical Officer to join our reputable team of professionals to provide primary care to patients. This role will be responsible for diagnosing and treating illness and injuries, prescribing medication, answering patients’ questions and recommending lifestyle changes as required to patients. The ideal candidate is one who is knowledgeable, detail oriented, a good problem solver and able to provide a high level of care under pressure; communicates excellently and is kind and compassionate towards patients. The successful candidate will report to the Medical Director or his designee and work closely with other medical staff to ensure proper care is provided to patients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
  • Examine patients, take detailed note of medical histories, address patients' concerns, and answer their questions.
  • Prescribe medications or therapies.
  • Order, and interpret diagnostic tests and explain the results to patients
  • Timely reporting of any medical information such as vital signs, physical exam or laboratory findings to your senior colleagues and consultants as needed
  • Provide surgical support and emergency care services
  • Carry out routine assessments - morning and evening for all inpatients, and/or discharge as required and write detailed reports in the case notes;
  • Ensure that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of patients
  • Communicate effectively with patients and clients;
  • Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality and ethics; abide by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria’s Guide to Ethical Conduct and Behaviour

Required experience and qualifications

  • MBBS from an accredited Nigerian or International University
  • Basic Life Support, NYSC and ACLS Certificates are not compulsory but are an advantage
  • Detail oriented and able to maintain meticulous records.
  • Sufficient clinical knowledge and evidence and evidence based practice to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Patience and compassion.
  • The ability and willingness to stay up to date on advancements, innovations, and developments in the field.
  • Flexible to run a 24-hours shift when required
